An animal is, you guessed it, an animal. Have you ever watched wolf's rain or any other anime where some of the characters are animal? Well, that's kinda it. You are any animal in the forest. In some people's eyes, you appear human. In the rest, you appear as your animal self.
Sometimes, an animal can control that form they're in. It's a defence technique. Rarely do they have half forms, though.
