It was dark. So dark; so cold. Every breath hurt, making icicles form in my lungs. I walked down the hallway, only lit by a flickering light. I felt my heart accelerating, cold sweat run down my face. My breathing got faster and faster. I felt the hair on the back of my neck rise. Only when I stopped walking did I realize I was quivering badly. My whole body shook like the fish in Finding Nemo; the poor girl shook all her fishies to death. Was I going to die? Everything suddenly went darker than black; my eyes could not adjust. Then, a scream.
My body shot up as I woke up. I just stared blankly at the blanket that was around me, not thinking. I wiped all the sweat off my neck and face after my brain had time to work again. My heartbeat was still racing, faster than a hummingbird's I'd almost say. My breathing was fast and shallow, coming in gasps. I managed to close my eyes and count backwards from five. My breathing slowed enough for me to concentrate. I looked outside, and it was still dark. I looked at the clock; 6:30 am. I rubbed my eyes to make sure the time was right. Guess the sun doesn't rise as early here as it does back in the AZ; even more so being spring time.
I got up from the couch I slept on the night before. Just so you know, I don't like being a burden or getting in people's way. They offered a bed, but I wanted to sleep in a corner. We finally compromised on a couch. It was really comfy, and I'm starting to believe it was a bed in disguise. I hate being tricked.
I started walking to the bathroom, but something else caught my attention. A bag of stuff...... Alice did this. I sighed and grabbed it, heading to my destination.
I knew to look though it before changing. There was plenty of basic items in there. A toothbrush, toothpaste, make-up (oh how much I hate that stuff), and a lot of clothes. I pulled them out and examined them. A pink shirt, a light blue one with a teddy angel on it, and a yellow one. I saw some underwear that was somehow perfectly my size. Then pants, blue jeans. Never wore them, but I guess everything changed.
I threw off the pink shirt and the blue jeans and put the others back in the bag. I brushed my teeth quickly, making sure to clean everything in the bathroom, and left. I sat on the rain of the stairs and slid down. I saw all the others ready, Rosalie and Emmett looking at me as if they had been waiting for ten years. Esme was looking at me with great concern; she probably saw me as I was having the nightmare. Everyone else was pretty much ignoring me and was ready for school, but they didn't leave. I forgot; today was Wednesday.
"Well, you just gonna stand there?" I heard Emmett tease.
"What do you mean?" I asked, dumbfounded. I didn't understand. This was my third day here, not including the three weeks unconscious.
"Time for school!" I heard Alice tell me cheerfully in her bell voice. I could tell my eyes went wide.
"Me, at school? You don't even know what grade I'm supposed to be in! I don't even have proper school equipment!"
I looked at them. Most of them looked at me like I was an idiot. I calmed down easily, but still looked looked at them. They must of been pulling a prank. But when I looked at the couch, it was already made and had a black backpack on it. I sighed, grabbing it and putting it on. "Alright, lead the way,"
The first four periods went by fast. Summary of the day; I got a ride with the Cullens to school. It was a fancy car. Alice went with me to the office so I can get my schedule. Sheepish, remember? The four periods I was in were basically the same. I introduced myself, and got my seat assigned. Took notes, and surprisingly, school was easy. Though I was put a grade ahead, I learned most of this stuff. And I was even in honors classes!
I walked into the Cafeteria for lunch. The walls were white and so was the tile; basic lunchroom decor. Then there were round lunch tables, and there was about 19 of them, each holding seven to eight chairs. The lunch line was pretty long, so I sure waited a long time. I looked at what was put out. Pizza, fries, vegi burger, milk and some sodas. I sighed. This school was soo small, so all the grades ate together.
I got my lunch, a basic pizza with sprite, and I was walking over to where the Cullens sat. I got a little bit uncomfortable with all the stares, but it was soon over thanks to Bella, or was it Rosalie, who must of scared them back into looking away.
